Restylane®

The Restylane family of fillers are FDA approved injectables used for instant correction of fine lines, facial wrinkles, lip enhancement and facial volume correction.

What is it?

Restylane, Restylane-L®, Restylane® Silk, Restylane Refyn, Restylane Defyn are all members of the Restylane family of products. Each is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid, helping to instantly, visibly reduce moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds or add fullness to your lips in patients over 21.

As the years go by, the amount of the hyaluronic acid produced by the body slowly reduces, leading to lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. Dermal fillers are injectables that replenish lost volume and shape cheeks and jawline. They're perfect for areas such as the lips, cheeks, jawline, nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

When this natural substance is skillfully injected, it can shave years off your appearance, offering instant and long lasting results with minimal downtime. Schedule an appointment today with one of our Huntington Dermatology expert injectors to learn more about our filler offerings.

What to expect

Restylane delivers instant results by adding volume to smooth wrinkles. Once the 20-30 minute appointment is complete, you can resume normal activities. You may experience mild swelling, redness, pain, bruising or tenderness, typically lasting less than 7 days for nasolabial folds and 14-18 days for lips.

You'll see immediate improvement, however full treatment results may take 2 to 4 weeks to appear, so it's recommended to plan ahead for special events.

These FDA-approved fillers offer long-lasting results, typically ranging from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the injection site. Many clients choose follow-up treatments sooner to maintain optimal results.

RESTYLANE® CAN HELP WITH THESE CONDITIONS:

Avoid using aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen), St John’s wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements, as these may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

Talk with your healthcare professional if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores. He or she may prescribe a medication to minimize recurrence.

Treatment with Restylane, Restylane-L, or Restylane Silk generally takes less than an hour (individual treatment times may vary)

Your healthcare professional will cleanse and prepare the area to be treated. Then Restylane, Restylane-L, or Restylane Silk gel is injected into the treatment area using an ultra-fine needle to create the desired effect.

Use cold compresses to reduce swelling and avoid exposure to intense heat (sun lamp or sunbathing). Reduce the risk of facial cold sore recurrence that could be caused by needle punctures by talking with your healthcare professional about medications that may minimize an outbreak

Avoid taking aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen), St John’s wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

After treatment, you might have some swelling, redness, pain, bruising or tenderness. These are typically mild in severity and normally last less than 7 days in nasolabial folds and less than 14 – 18 days in lips. Swelling may be more likely in patients under 36 years, and bruising may be more likely in patients over 35 years.

Contact Huntington Dermatology if you experience side effects beyond 14 days—and ask about follow-up appointments.
