Hives (Urticaria)

Uives (Urticaria) is a prevalent skin disorder characterized by itchy, inflamed patches that can emerge anywhere on the body.

What is it?

Hives, or urticaria, are raised, red and itchy welts that appear on the skin, often in response to an allergic reaction, stress or certain medications. They can range in size from small bumps to large patches and may appear suddenly. While hives can occur anywhere on the body, they are most commonly found on the arms, legs and torso. The condition may last for hours or even days, and in some cases, can recur intermittently. Chronic Urticaria is when this disorder lasts for more than six weeks, which is less frequent, but could indicate a more severe underlying medical issue.

How is it treated?

At Huntington Dermatology, we understand how uncomfortable and frustrating hives can be. Our team will work with you to determine the underlying cause of your hives and provide an effective treatment plan. Whether your hives are triggered by an allergy, stress or another factor, we offer a range of options to relieve symptoms and prevent future outbreaks.

Treatment varies but may include prescribed antihistamines, corticosteroids or other anti-inflammatory drugs to alleviate the itching and swelling. Identifying and avoiding triggers is key to preventing future outbreaks. We can help you pinpoint possible causes, such as food allergies, medications or environmental factors.

WHY CHOOSE HUNTINGTON DERMATOLOGY?

Our team is dedicated to providing personalized care for those experiencing hives, offering both immediate relief and long-term solutions. If you’re struggling with persistent or severe hives, don’t wait. Schedule a consultation today and start feeling better.
