Sculptra

Sculptra® Aesthetic is different from topical treatments and other facial fillers because it works with your body to help revitalize the production of collagen, the natural substance that gives your skin resiliency, elasticity and shape. The result? A more youthful-looking appearance that can last more than two years.

What’s the Secret to Youthful-Looking Skin?

Youthful Skin Starts Within

Sculptra® Aesthetic works subtly and gradually over time for a more youthful-looking appearance. Sculptra Aesthetic helps stimulate your skin’s own natural collagen production to help restore its inner structure and increase facial volume that has been lost to aging.

Collagen by the numbers

Collagen is a key structural component of smooth, healthy-looking skin. As you age, your body’s collagen production decreases. In fact, you lose about 1% of collagen per year after the age of 20.6 This is when you may start to notice the formation of wrinkles. Luckily, Sculptra Aesthetic can help, even if decades of collagen loss have already occurred.

What Is Sculptra® Aesthetic?

Address an underlying cause of facial aging, not just the symptoms

Sculptra Aesthetic is an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen — an underlying cause of facial aging — for results that can last more than two years.*

It’s used to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds.

Why should you choose Sculptra Aesthetic?

Real Results That Last

Not all treatments or injectables are created the same. Some target different areas of the face, and, more importantly, produce different effects.

Traditional collagen creams purport to deliver collagen that is absorbed by the skin. However, collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the dermis. So, in actuality, most of these treatments include vitamins and hold moisture, making them suitable moisturizers that can briefly improve skin’s appearance.

Collagen dietary supplements are meant to facilitate the production of collagen within the body. However, collagen is a protein that, when ingested, is broken down by the digestive system. Results for these types of treatments are inconclusive.

Toxins work by temporarily weakening muscles, typically in the forehead, to minimize frown lines. Results appear within a couple days and can last up to a couple months.

A Subtle Approach to Anti-Aging

Sculptra is a facial volumizer designed to stimulate collagen, a key structural component that keeps skin smooth and youthful looking. Just as wrinkles and skin folds don’t appear overnight, injections of Sculptra replace lost collagen over time, gradually delivering subtle results that can last for more than two years.

80% of patients were still satisfied with their treatment results 25 months after their last injection.

FDA-approved Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material that’s been used by physicians for decades. “It’s totally safe, and there’s no need to test for allergic reactions before injecting Sculptra,” says Dr. Timothy Jochen, a Board Certified Dermatologist who is in the top 1% of facial filler injectors in the nation. “Actually, poly-L-lactic acid has been used in dissolvable sutures for more than 20 years.”

Sculptra stimulates collagen

Typically a full treatment of Sculptra involves three to five injection sessions spread over a few months. Injected into the deep dermis, Sculptra stimulates natural collagen and reinforces skin’s structure. The resulting reinforced collagen structure provides a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness to both shallow and deep facial wrinkles and folds. And since Sculptra is biodegradable, the body has a natural pathway to break it down and eliminate it while leaving natural collagen in its place. Sculptra is recommended for use in the nasolabial folds and wrinkles. It is not injected in the lips or around the eyes.

Side effects are minimal. Patients may experience a little tenderness, redness and some swelling around the site of the injection, but these effects generally subside within a matter of days.

For most individuals, however, Sculptra is a safe and subtle approach to not only looking younger but looking healthier too. No one will know but you as Sculptra gradually volumizes your face, providing optimal correction and a more natural look with staying power. Rather than lasting mere months, Sculptra is the only FDA-approved collagen stimulator shown to last two years or more for those who receive the full treatment of Sculptra.

Collagen Is the Key

The not-so-secret cause of facial aging

One of the primary reasons for visible facial aging is loss of collagen, a fibrous protein in the deep dermis that gives structure to skin and supports the functions of elastin and hyaluronic acid (HA). Elastin is an elastic protein that maintains skin shape, while HA cushions and lubricates to keep the skin hydrated. More collagen enables the presence of more elastin and HA.

Facial aging overview

Facial aging actually begins in your 20s, when skin firmness begins to decrease as a result of both internal (genetics and natural aging) and external (sun exposure, smoking, pollution, sleeping positions, etc.) factors.

Resurfacing

Chemical peels, microdermabrasion and laser resurfacing modify the surface of the skin to correct visible signs of sun damage, such as fine lines, irregular pigmentation and blemishes.

Injectables

Toxins, traditional fillers (hyaluronic acid) and collagen stimulators are injected into facial areas to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and restore facial contours.

Surgery

A wide range of surgical procedures exist, like liposuction, face-lifts and fat transfers, which are used to remove excess fat, lift severely sagging skin or fill facial hollows. These are the most invasive types of treatment.

Sculptra® Aesthetic uses poly-L-lactic acid, which works with your body to help rebuild lost collagen for a more youthful-looking appearance that can last up to two years.
